Yeah keep some Amer Keets. They are also usually prolific and earn seed
oney.
They also usually will raise their babies and the English few too. English
seem to have fewer babies than American "pinheads". I think the fertility has
been bred into the pinheads and is not as good in English and when it is you
pay for it. That is why I'm impressed with these first couple of TB-1 pairs.
Seem to be good genes. Now, another pair did not do as good. More skittish,
Had babies,
and were the only ones to die last winter. Threw another babe outta the nest.
Broke eggs. I think I might've gotten one live chick off her. She's pied,
he's cobalt I think or sky. I'm gonna replace him with a male from previously
mentioned TB-1 recess pied pair and repair him to another bird. Will try
hat.
Anyway, I was always told you had to have 6 to 12 pr budgies to do any good.
I doubt that I true but I do think there is a "flock" mentality there and
maybe the budgie noise does it for them.

About vent plucking, I dont bother, at least not yet, but might be good for
fat birds. Old time breeders are the ones that say to do it.
