Subject: Magoo
Hi Everybody,
Unfortunately, I missed the convention this year, because my mother is 
seriously ill.  I've thought a lot about the Magoo issue,
since I would have been on the resolution committee if I had been in New 
Orleans.
I wish the members of the resolutions committee could have more time to think 
about a resolution before being required to cast a
ote.  As it stands now, we get about five minutes to listen to the 
resolution, ask questions, debate, form an opinion, and vote.  I
need more time to reflect when I feel torn about an issue such as this.
I haven't read our resolution yet.  I'm certain that if Mr. Magoo is anything 
like his 1950's incarnation in this new movie, the
image of blind people will be harmed in the minds of many children.  But many 
interest groups today are finding reasons to be
offended, and the public is getting fed up.  We have to pick our battles, and 
I wonder if this particular one is a good one at this
time.
Now that e've made our decision, I'm ready to take the ball and run with it.
