The modem is a Motorola Lifestyle with an Avtek logo silk-screened onto it,
just as Banksia now sell Microcom modems with Banksia logos on them. The
PCB inside clearly indicates where it was made, as do the factory molding
date/time/location stamps on the inside of the casing.

The package doesn't say it's "made in Australia", it's
"manufactured in Australia". "Manufacturing" is a
technical term which means something quite different from the colloquial
meaning you assigned to it. I can't comment on Avtek/NetComm's other
models, but the FlashModem is NOT made in Australia in the sense you mean.
