Are you small enough to get in?

RY> According to the tour, and the service manuals I have since found on

But, unless I mixed up two characters in the movie, in the movie
they were one and the same. And, no, I'm not doubting you or Carol
about their different tasks in real life.

RY> So my semieducated guess would be that while there are points where
RY> the two converge, most often they jobs differ.

Have you seen the movie, though? I do think that their separate
duties were merged with poetic (OK, humorous) license!

RY> Particularly as the subs operated on battery power or electricity
RY> generated from the diesels (of that era) and that's fr mor voltage than

For a more accurate portrayal, can I recommend _Das Boot_?

If you don't already have it, make sure you get the DVD version. The
English dubbing is done quite well. However, take the extra time and
re-watch it in German with the English sub-titles.
