www.hotbot.com is probably the most extensive search engine on the net.
if you look hard enough, there's a midi/gear specific search engine
somewhere.  another good place to start is www.hyperreal.com's music
machine archives.  it's not the best music site, but it should have
some useful links out.  not to mention, IMO hyperreal.com is one of the
best domain's on the net..  if you have any interest in recreational or
'mind expanding' drug use, electronic music culture, etc.  check it out.
