subject: Printing checks question

-=> Quoting Mark Haider to All <=-
MH> I just bought an HP DeskJet 540 and would like to start printing my
MH> checks with Quicken after my current supply of checks runs out. I
MH> have been reading through the users guide to see how to set Quicken
MH> up, and have looked at the different types of checks that can be
MH> ordered from Intuit. In the checks catalog it mentions that inkjet
MH> printers need a "forms leader" when printing just one or two checks,
MH> and that the personal wallet size checks aren't recommended for use
MH> in inkjet printers. I'm looking for some feedback on this, I would
MH> prefer to use the wallet size, and I don't quite understand why the
 MH> forms leader is necessary.
If the Deskjet 540 can print envelopes then you should be able to print
partial pages (one or two checks) without a forms leader. You need to
load the checks into the printer as if you where loading envelopes. Then
go into check printer setup and tell Quicken how you load the checks.
Then print away. If you have Quiken for Windows ver 4 its on page 72
of the manual. As for wallet size checks the ones that I am using (with
a dot matrix printer) are wallet size but with a stub on the left hand side
that makes the entire thing 8.5 inches wide (9.5 counting the tear off holes
for the tractor pins). If these are available for inkjet printers then
they should work no problem.
