GS>>Germany.
TR> Beautiful place. I was there in the military in the mid-1960's. The
TR> people who lived in rural areas were wonderful friendly people.
GS>:-)
GS>The ones from the British sector usally are not too amused about the
GS>friendliness in the American sector.
It was only about 20 or so years after WWII. Germany was sort of still
resentful over their defeat. But I tried to act courteously to German
nationals and always had a pretty good relationship with Germans. Not
all Germans were Nazis, and none I ever had dealings with treated me with
anything but respect and politeness.
TR> You have to go through a pretty rigid licensing process to own a fully
TR> automatic weapon.
GS>Well, the argument earlier in this thread was more restrictive laws didn't
GS>help, because the bad guys can get their guns, anyways.
They do. It matters little to criminal types where or how they obtain weapons,
There have even been robberies of weapons right at military armories.
GS>But for some
GS>reason, they seem to prefer using legal guns.
If they have any sort of criminal record they don't have firearms `legally',
whether they are bought or stolen. Typically one of the charges lodged against
an arrested criminal is a firearms charge if they are in possession of or use
a firearm during a crime.
