| Yet another way for the naysayers to move forward rather than being | stuck in the reactionary past. While I agree completely that Linux | desktop isn't as slick as it could be, it's far from being unusable. If | these folks would put as much effort in making it work for them as they | do whining and calling names, they'd be so much ahead of the ball | instead of behind it that it wouldn't be funny. Jeez, Louise, just deal | with it and move forward. +-[JG=>MP] When I first installed the latest Debian, it actually was slick enough. Part of the problem I have had is that some things seem to "disappear" the first time I allow a kernal patch/upgrade to be installed. Like some of the modules disappear. For example, on my laptop, I had it set up to use the Windows drivers (via ndiswrapper (sp?)) for a wireless card. That worked fine until I installed the kernel upgrade. It is easy enough to fix, I just haven't yet. The other problems are mostly with folks who program their websites to only work with Windows. I mentioned multimedia in my original message. I got a little hacked a few weeks back when I visted a site that had some video content. They insisted that they were only able to show the videos to Windows users. HOWEVER, the video ads that preceded the desired video worked JUST FINE on my linux machine. I somehow don't believe that their videos are really Windows compatable only! ;-) | Thanks for being a bright spot! +-[JG=>MP] Don't know that I've been called that before. ;-) Mike ##MMR 2.61(beta). !link JG 05-26-08 08:25 --- GTMail 1.26* Origin: Capitol City Online * 502/875-8938 * cco.ath.cx (1:2320/105.0) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 34/999 53/558 90/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 222/2 226/0 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 393/68 396/45 633/104 260 267 690/682 734 712/848 SEEN-BY: 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 303 2905/0 @PATH: 2320/105 261/38 633/260 267 |
