I wonder why there is a strong tendency for a Christian society to produce
more Christians, and an Islamic society to produce more Muslims.

"We call him God" (and a God with certain characteristics), just
like our fathers did, and their fathers before them (it's only in recent
times that women have tried to get in the picture).

If it weren't so offensive, I would outline the gullibility explanation of
how rational people in rational societies embrace religion.
