Yes in the sense as you described it of minute changes over long periods of
time.  Where everyone loses their perspective is when they extrapolate from
the plentiful evidence of minute changes over time within a single species
to trans-species evolution, and then go completely off the all reasonable
perspective cliff when they extrapolate the *theory* of evolution to its
final conclusion which is "some stuff that wasn't alive given enough
time will become a human brain, a human eye, a complete human being,
without any intelligent intervention or direction of any kind", merely
by chance and coincidence of millions and billions of factors.  The
absurdity and total lack of evidence for this final extrapolation is there
for any reasonable person to see, provided they pull their heads up out of
the fruit flies long enough to consider the "big picture" of the
extrapolations they are advocating.

I struggle for a good analogy, but its like scientists observing a subset
of one billionth or one hundred millionth of a billionth of a billionth
factors relevant to the question of non-life evolving into a human being
over time and then extrapolating from those observations to what they
advocate is an absolute unquestionable truth about the entire total set of
events from non-life to human being, that since intra species
differentiation happens without intelligent direction or design within this
microscopic subset of factors they observe, that therefore the entire set
happens without intelligent direction or design at any point.  Its no
different from observing one single species of bug and observing that they
all have 4 feet, and then extrapolating that all bugs of every species have
4 feet from the beginning of time until now.  Then deride anyone who dares
even call such a statement a mere theory and not fact.  Then have arrogant
and out of control judges rule from the bench that teachers and school
districts are not allowed to call evolution of human beings from non-life
without intelligent direction or design a "theory".
