KF> Hi All,
KF> Well it seems that a new entity has enter as many messages in
KF> this conference as his offline mail reader could hold.
KF> RE: *James Prior*
KF> As for Home Schoolers in Florida, since when did he get the smarts
KF> to be able to interpret to *others* what the laws in Florida, let
KF> alone any other State in the union, were originally enacted for.
KF> No where in any of the Statutes of Florida's Home Education Act does
KF> it spell out that it was originally designed for the mentally
KF> or physically impaired. Quite the opposite. The law states that it
KF> will *PROVIDE* special classes for those who are impaired.
KF> Since the messages originated in Arizona I can't speak for Arizona or
KF> it's laws on Home Education but The mere mention that he knows a part
KF> of the country like the back of his hand yet having left the area in
KF> 1962 causes me to question "when was the last time he looked at the
KF> back of his hand let alone knew what home schooling was about?"
KF> Boasting about the great educational background that has led him to
KF> develop the ideas that he was so eloquently able to convey to others
KF> by butting into their conversations with his wit and wisdom from a
KF> Liberal's point of view. Then bashing them for their concerns
KF> and desires to teach their children under the laws provided by these
KF> United States of America. He apparently has turned his back on the
KF> mere knowledge that the school systems throughout this country have
KF> failed due to matters such as * TENURE*, teacher burn out, violence in
KF> the classroom, guns-drugs on campus, explosives on campus, pedifile
KF> teachers, gangs, Liberal Teachings of morals, too many students in the
KF> classroom, etc. etc. etc.
KF> Why shouldn't a parent be concerned about what their children
KF> might learn in the PUBLIC School Systems no matter where they are in
KF> this country? Maybe in his little nook of the woods they don't have
KF> the problems mentioned above, but many others do and Concerned parents
KF> are using the Laws of the land provided to them from Wiser authorities
KF> than Mr. Prior to train up their children not in the ways of the world.
KF> Recently a noted radio spokesperson mentioned that 250 Colleges in
KF> this country were "actively" seeking Home Educated Students.
KF> This person was the noted "Paul Harvey".
Well Kevin, you are really one to be calling another a liberal. And yes,
colleges in this country are actively seeking home educated students. I
never said they weren't. What I did say was that less than 1/10 of 1%
of home educated students will qualify for college. There is a big
ifference
between seeking and qualifying....least the last time I looked there was.
As for being a liberal.....well you would have to ask your President about
that.....liberalism, as someone once said, is a laid back form of communism.
Just like you find in this country.....spending money they don't have,
utting
the burden on those who earn a living by making them give it to those who are
to damn lazy to earn their own living.
Liberal ideas....homeschooling where most of the reasons for homeschooling
are because the parents, either one or both are two lazy to get up and
take the kid to school. Two damn busy attending club meetings to even
attempt to attend a school meeting. No, I am not pointing the finger
at you personnaly...I am pointing it at a society that is so liberal that
the parents will not make sure their kids are clean when they go off to
school. That they go to school with books and pencils instead of knives and
guns. The reason there is so damn much problems in the school systems these
days is not the teachers, but rests squarely on the shoulders of the parents.
If your child brings a 9mm Beretta into class and shoots half a dozen
students and the teacher and the principle and the security guard and the
bus driver and his pet frog, who's responsible? I can tell you this,
the one who is responsible is the irresponsible parent that wouldn't put
their foot down when the 5 year old threw a fit over a piece of candy.
A kid goes bad not because of what he learns in school from the book, the
kid goes bad because of what he didn't learn or wasn't taught in the home.
And the sooner the parents of this country realize that the teachers, for
the most part are doing the best they can with what little support they
get, then maybe we can turn this country around. We surely won't do it
with half educated kids that cannot tie their own shoes or write their
name.
James Prior
... Go for it!!
