The first DOS was the MS product I think, but check on IBM-DOS? Only
much later was there a competetor for DOS of any note. The others were
minor clones (PC-DOS etc, OEM specifics). DOS came out of CPM which the
first 8088/8086 line of systems ran. Earliest DOS was CPM backwards
compatible.
