AS I"ve always perceived them, folks who are uneducated and
have a very narrow worldview.  GLitz and glitter gets their
attention.  Usually the "Redneck" is proud of his narrow
view and lack of knowledge of much outside his ken.

KNown plenty of good country people who defy the term, very
educated people, glad to tell you there's stuff out there
they don't know and don't understand.

I"ve got relatives who are, and some who just resemble them. Many see
folks living in rather primitive conditions and
often assume "redneck" but assume wrongly.  YOu've got to
converse with them and get a feel for their worldview before you know for
sure .
