Oh it's worse than that. It show just how shallow & lipstick on a pig
the whole "lessons of Nuremberg" have become.

Great so you'll get into trouble for "holocaust denial" but were
one (as a gov) to actively dismiss the whole of the legal precedents from
Nuremberg then....as long as it's in the name of fighting terrorism
then.....

The ironic bit is that the "ignore Nuremberg" even applies to
those bits which set out what you couldn't do in a fight against
terrorists/partisans/illegal combatants (e.g. as a result of the German
anti-Partisan SS sweeps).

As an example, the classification of people fighting for an enemy gov as
murderers etc rather than soldiers (whether in uniform or not) was finally
banned. I say finally as through time immemorial victors have slaughtered
their prisoners as "criminals/murderers etc".

The SS/Nazi adopted this very keenly which lead to it's banning (though the
Soviets just kept quite about having done the same via the NKVD etc).

You get the idea that this bunch of American "officials" truly
believe they are in a whole new place & that thus there are no rules
& they can make everything up as they go along.

As is turning out with rendition etc this is not the case.
