The problem here isn't guns, it's societal.  If you eliminate ALL
firearms related deaths in this country it STILL has the highest murder
rate on the planet.

Because people in Switzerland are better civilized than a lot of the
people here.  We have some real whackos running around loose. 
Unfortunately there's no way to keep them from getting their hands on
weapons.

The police in some jurisdictions in this country also have light armored
vehicles in addition to all sorts of full and semi automatic assault
weapons.  They probably also have light artillery (LAWs).
