"The US military has released details of its case against David Hicks,
an Australian held without trial at Guantanamo Bay for five years.

Mr Hicks is facing charges of providing material support for terrorism and
attempted murder.

He was captured in Afghanistan, where he allegedly fought alongside the
ruling Taleban against US-led forces. "

Daft daft sods.

Note a couple of things :

A & most important) "fought alongside the ruling Taleban against
US-led forces".

The Taleban were the Afghan Gov. The US invaded. This would make all sorts
of people etc potentially subject to "attempted murder" or indeed
straight forward murder inc basically all gov employees etc (or those who
help a gov). That includes UK & US mil etc.

To have a war & then to accuse those who you capture of
murder/attempted murder for fighting against you was ruled out during the
post WW2 trials e.g. wrt Allied "terror bomber" crews being shot
by the Germans if shot down etc.

It's bizarre. It's as if 3500 dead Yanks & a couple of skyscrapers down
are more important than the whole of WW2 inc the holocaust & Nuremberg.
