I would guess from what you describe that you had aphids on your
nasturtium. You mentioned anti-bacterial soap. I assume you're
talking about a kitchen type soap. I suspect the soap might have
killed the plants. Soap sprays are good to kill bugs, but the
wrong soap spray can injure plants. I buy Safer's soap, it's
available in garden centers and formulated esp for that purpose.
I know some people have had luck with dishwashing liquid, but you
really need to test it first to be sure it doesn't contain
anything that will harm the plant. It might just burn it
some...or as in your case do worse than that. But I bet that the
anti-bacterial ingredient might have been what did it. You need
a very mild soap for plants.
