From: Ad >> My choice? C) of course, but then I don't do the socialism/islamo >> fascism submission thing very well. >> >> > > Why should we do anything when we have proxies who are more than willing > to do that? Willing but not capable. Not w/o serious US help. e.g. were Iraq to be "unoccupied" then the IAF could easily (given the total lack of Iraqi AD) potter through on their way to Iran. However...currently Iraq has the world's best AD in the shape of the US mil who have said that they are responsible for maintaining Iraqi sovereignty & that includes in the air. So oddly you're blocking the path of said willing proxy. Another route would be over Saudi but anything coming out wrt Saudi connivance with Israel against a fellow muslim state could well spell the end of the Al-Sauds & possibly Saudi the state. So that leaves Gulf of Aquaba > end of Red Sea > Up the Omani coast > Iran (where Iran is itself a large country). Chances of doing that undetected approaches 0 esp when all the logistical aircraft (tankers etc) are also factored in. & that's just to approach Iran. Imagine trying to get to Bushr i.e. through/over the straights of Hormuz & then up to Bushr & back through the straits etc. Natanz? In a surprise attack? V. unlikely. the S300'es would be warmed up & ready to go long before the Iranian coastline/border was crossed. The last route would be Med > Turkey > Iran but I can't see Turkey wanting to in effect start a war with Iran.
