Simple. If you have a voice modem, it will have a mic and speaker socket
on the back. Plug the speaker socket into the line input of your sound
card with a cable, go into your comms program, enter ATX0L2M1 to disable
dialtone detection, and enable the speaker, then enter ATH1 to go
online. You are now hearing the phoneline through your sound card.

What a load of rubbish. Any voice modem worth its salt with speaker
and mic sockets on the back can do exactly that, so you've obviously
never tried. As the saying says - never let the person who says it
cant be done interrupt the person doing it :-)
