I don't do this sort of thing with Word so I'm reaching here but 
in some environments you can set an attribute of the edit box to 
process  two different ways. In the first case, pressing 
 will move the cursor to the next item on the form. In 
order to insert a carriage return in the current edit box you
press . In the second case, pressing  will 
insert a carriage return in the current edit box. In order to 
move the cursor to the next item you press . 
 
I hope this gives you some ideas.
