David ...
I found your post (with the above Subj. to the Home Ofc echo) to be
attractive. And even eloquent or something close to that. Of course
that last shouldn't be surprising, given the fields of your interest.
They're close to mine, too, so I've got a question(s):
D'you happen to know of an Internet mailing list -- accessible by e-mail,
necessarily -- that goes to either of your interests (other than the BBS,
that is)? Because those are my interests, too.
From Chicago, there's no possibility I'd be competing w/ you. Indeed,
for the specific project I'm working on, I don't believe any competition
yet exists anywhere.
I saw, long ago, a demonstration of Express Publisher. Clearly, it's
an "entry level" system for any DTP work, but it appeared to me that it
would handle anything I see as a potential need. Further, I've got a
copy of version 2.0. I've been looking at the docs. So far, however,
I've been too chicken even to try to install it.
For one thing, the printer I now have is a 9-pin DM machine (Epson RX/FX 80).
But I could probably start out by getting copy printed out at a service
bureau (sound sensible?). After all, I won't need more than one copy to
use via a copy shop.
I'd be most encouraged, however, if I were able to find a reasonably active
I'Net mailing list where I might discuss this sort of thing. I don't mean
to be weeping on your shoulder, btw! But I haven't found the right source
thus far.
In any case, I look forward to seeing your traffic on Home Office. And
thanx for listening. --ed
