Poe, at 18:41 on May 15 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley... PL> The older Couriers have the unusual connector, which means you had PL> to have one of theirs. BG> Quite right, too. I was dreading that positively awful mini DIN BG> plug thingo (ever tried repairing or rewiring one of those?), so BG> you can imagine how pleased I was that USR appear to have finally BG> woken up to themselves. PL> Might have had a purpose some time in the past; I doubt it, as my old 1988 Courier HST uses a standard (large) 5-pin DIN plug on its secondary power lead, but there are still only 2 pins being used, the same 2 as per the later Austel models. PL> AFAIK, the current Couriers (or rather the daughterboard version) doesn't PL> use all the pins, and only needs two. Perhaps the older ones has different PL> voltages for different components. No, the old ones are the same, and only the plug size has changed. Before the new style concentric connector was introduced, the DIN plugs had 17-0-17 VAC (centre-tapped) supplied to them, regardless of their size.
