This is no different than a debit transaction as far as I can see.

I don't even see the difference from a credit transaction these days - it's
been eons since I've had an unauthorized credit transaction except at
roadside stand kinds of places (where I'm loath to use my credit card
anyways).

You're not making a very convincing case (not that it's particularly your
job to do so!)
