| subject: | RE: ATM RE: Robo1 VS Robo2 |
From: "Frank Ward" To: Reply-To: "Frank Ward" As everyone knows I avoid controversy as best I can. All I can add to this discussion is observational data. When David Lerch visited my shop last year, (or was it the year before) I tested a 10" f/5 aluminized mirror with my equipment (fouchalt) I came up with certain numbers. David set up Robo1 and the difference between his numbers and mine were less than 5%. We then did the same thing to two more mirrors, an eight inch and a six inch. Every time the numbers I found were in agreement with the numbers David found. I have since used the 10" f/5 which rated a 1/20+ wave from my numbers. At no time in side to side trials did a 13.5" f/5 commercial mirror rated at 1/10 wave outperform the 10" in light grasp or sharpness of view. Better than this I can't do, Tom. Oh, and when he was here he cleaned out my kitchen and silvered six mirrors in a little less than two hours. The guy is a treasure. I enjoyed hating him for a long time, then I realized it was just envy.
