From: "Scott Berfield" To: Reply-To: "Scott Berfield" No need to disdain craftsmanship just because it doesn't directly aid the gathering of photons. While the decorative aspects of the scope are not directly supportive of it's main function, there is no harm in making something esthetically pleasing -- and there is in fact a great satisfaction in both the making and the beholding of them. There is a pleasure in finely made things - both the minimalist design in which every element does exactly what is needed and no more, and the more exuberant style in which materials and decorative elements are chosen for more tactile and sensual reasons. I can't say a thing about the quality of this scope's optics or stability, but I will ay that it made me smile to see it, and I bet not a person went by that didn't reach out and touch the finish. If it serves the purposes of the owner then who are we to disparage him his efforts to make something wonderful? On another note, if you want to ship some of those clear nights out here to the Northwest this Winter, I'd appreciate it. -scott --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Email Gate (1:379/100) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/100 1 106/1 2000 633/267 |
