Ummm.  Dennnis and I played and Plotted ST-OM before the Dominion war
happened in Trek.  Dennnis included his own Epic plot lines and so I had
the choice to constantly rewrite to try and stay with Cannon or follow the
line we originally set, making ST-OM an alternate universe.

And that's why for me.
