Concerning _POWER DRAIN_, Tom Lamb said to Troy H. Cheek in SCANRADIO:
TL> Troy- just a few comments. My Bearcat 590 draws 12ma? even when
TL> turned off. It has a lithium batt. Have not figured out what the
TL> 12ma is for, much too much for memory.
I guess there should be something going on in addition to memory, but
naturally I'm clueless. Thanks for confirming that scanners do suck (well,
sip) power even when turned off, though.
TL> I have a relay wired to a SPDT CO switch so I turn all my radios
TL> completely off, or on, or on the ignition circuit.
You know, there's an idea. It would also be handy when wiring in a new radio
or something. It's hard to get my switch in and out of the ACC position,
especially when I'm standing on my head under the dashboard.
TL> Just bot a RS 394 comm radio. Has a 2020 lith button cell. Book
TL> says it will hold for a month, and recharge in 4 days. I don't
TL> think lith buttons are chargeable.
I think my Pro-2042 has some kind of button battery, and that's exactly the
behavior described in the manual. Who knows?
