A fun way to learn about space
2 April 2003
Find out more about space by playing ESA's new online space game.
Designed for students aged from 13 to 17, the game covers planets,
comets, launchers, astronauts and the exciting events that are taking
place in our solar system.
This online game is simple to play, versatile, easy for teachers to
introduce into the classroom and easily adaptable to the level of
students. It can be played singly or in teams and can be used:
* as part of space-related subjects such as physics, chemistry
and biology
* to help teach English as a foreign language
* at the end of the day when pupils become less attentive
* whenever there is free time
The aim of the game is to increase student's knowledge of space and
its relevance to our daily lives, and to encourage student's
curiosity about our still largely unexplored solar system.
Questions are varied. Teams may have to guess the answer from the
clues they are given, try and make a sentence from given words or
guess what space subject a team member is trying to draw. Many
answers include comments or little-known facts to encourage
discussion between the players and to arouse curiosity. The result
should be a lot of fun and an increased knowledge of space.
Each month the game will be updated with new questions so that it can
be played again. This game is ideal for schools but also fun to play
at home with friends and family so download the board, dice and
questions and have fun. A free copy of the game board is also being
distributed with the latest edition of Edunews.
