sharp to notice, George.

CH> ((Watching the Grand Bike Tour) Hey look they've got roads in France!
GP> That does seem to be the U.S. activity-of-the-year this year --
GP> picking on the French. . .
I wasn't picking on the French George, I was beng sarcastic about how
many americans (not all remember) adhere to the fairy tale that
America has to be number one in everything... (rolling eyes) This
pompous attitude is what makes ALL Americans suffer 'the ugly american'
image held by many Europeans, Africans, Asians, and yes Canadians.

GP> A friend of mine is an officer in the navel reserve. A few weeks ago
GP> he was attending a conference that included admirals in both the US
GP> and French navies. At a cocktail reception, my friend found himself
GP> in a small group that included admirals from both navies. The French

GP> that we have to speak English in these conferences rather than you
GP> have to speak French?"
GP> Without even hesitating, the American Admiral replied, "Maybe it is
GP> because we Americans arranged it so that you did not have to learn to
GP> speak German."
I hate it when people use the past like that. I'll tell you the real
reason George. The real reason is because most Americans are too lazy
to learn a second language. And perhaps having ancestors from 'the old
country' come here and have to abandon their native tongue - for such
was UNamerican.... has something to do with it too.
GP> The group became silent.

Childish Stupidity reigns supreme... Sigh.

GP> Today it was reported that severe earthquakes have occurred in 10
GP> different locations in France.
GP> The severity of each quake was measured in excess of 10 on the Richter
GP> scale. The cause was determined to be the 56,681 dead American
GP> soldiers buried in French soil rolling over in their graves.
Dumber and dumber. Sigh.
Just so you know. While I"m not the sharpest knife in the drawer,
I don't count myself amongst bigots.
