That's because Warp emulates DOS5 only and DOS5 didn't anything much about 
MSCDEX. Merlin will have PCDOS7, about time!
Send you a better alternative for MSCDEX:  MCDX.EXE
Syntaxis in your autoexexec:
C:\DOS\MCDX /V /D:ECSCD003,E
/D:XXXXXX = name of your Nakamichi in   config.sys(Dos)
,E = Volumelabel; can be omitted
