Besides being one of the easiest platforms to program for, on top of a small
market size, you may reconsider leaving the Atari community. Had you thought
of copy-protecting your software? With just a few lines of code, you can be
95% assured the program has to run from an
original disk. (There is a chance someone may stumble upon, or otherwise
defeat the protection process, but in my experience, a 16 byte code that has
to be present on the disk and not readily available to current sector editors
is plenty of security).
