Well, that's the thing. With the previous setup, one officer could be in a
boat on "Booger Lake" and talk to another in "The Hole". (Translated: from
the northwest corner of TN to the southeast corner.) I can't see them
switching to another system that would have worse reception in fringe areas.
Large parts of Tennessee are nothing but fringe areas. :-)
Besides, the sounds I'm hearing on the old frequency are shorter and a *lot*
less frequent than what I used to hear.
