Make half a batch. It doesn't keep too well.

GP> I'll pass on the Harvard Beets (had them too often as a kid &

I'm the only one in my little family who likes them. I'm gonna see if
I haven't had any in awhile... I'm going to see if I can find a small
size jar of them, just for me.
..............

GP> I got no beef with the word "diet" just the CONCEPT of FASHIONABLE
GP> dieting (done more for vanity than for legitimate health concerns!) :|

Exactly my point George. But then it's the way the word is misused too.
"Diet" is supposed to mean 'the way you eat' rather than 'cutting down
on intake; eating less'. But then this is how it is misused.
..........................................

GP> As to the legitimate dieting, people think that all those minutes
GP> spent at the table eating is the main contributor to overweightness,
GP> but I say not -- it's not the minutes spent at the table,it's the
 GP> SECONDS!!!

That and the bigger problem with 'diet' is most often lack of
exercise. People want to pig out in front of the tv, and expect not to
get fat? Oh gee, it's the food's fault!
....................

GP> And the best exercise to get rid of that ugly stomach is PUSH-UPS
GP> (PUSH UP from the table before you completely sate yourself!)

Yup! :) Not long ago I read an article about the French Paradox. WHy
they can 'eat whatever they wasn't' (rich foods) and not have the
highest heart attack rates in the world. The answer is very simple.
They EAT LESS and exercise more. They get out, they walk a lot, the
bike ride... they don't spend hours upon hours in front of tv's and
puters... It's simple as that.
