I'd probably take the whole thing down there and have him mix the plaster
and do the pour.
Note that I put the tiles in the plaster so don't forget to either use the
mold release that he uses or, if he doesn't use any mold release, either
the liquid hand soap or a food wrap plastic can be used. I think that I use
about a kilo. of plaster for a 10" but haven't really measured for
weight it so I really don't know.  A thickness of 1" is good enough
for a tool but more is better.  Like most doing artistic work I just have a
feel for the size of the tool that I need to make and the pan that I use
just gets filled to that level with plaster before pouring water into it.
