MP>That, and it would take their buddies the insurance companies, and

Which only highlights the problems of moving to a `single-payer' (ie:
taxpayers) system.

When something is run by a free market system it usually finds it's own
level and runs fairly smoothly.

The minute `the taxpayer' is the one paying.....costs go up, salaries and
benefits being paid by taxpayers go up....and it isn't long before the whole
system causes financial shortfalls.

Which is what will happen if the nation is forced into single-payer
healthcare. It won't be long before the `system' will get unionized. From
there wages and benefits will go up. And not long after that the system will
be the biggest financial item in the national budget.

A good example of that is the wages, retirement and benefits packages of state
and local public employees groups. Many cities were pushed to the point of
financial ruin. It won't be long after `single payer' healthcare will join
the ranks of other `public sector systems' draining billions from taxpayers
pockets.

In fact, `single-payer' healthcare may be about to come to California. A
measure that will establish `government-run universal healthcare' in
California is already in the works and going through the process here.

The plan will cover:

All medical expenses

In-patient

Out-patient

Emergency services

Dental

Vision

Mental health

Nursing home care

And regardless of immigration status; legal or illegal.

The only question remaining is (get ready) how to pay for it.

And the (vague) answer to that is `broad-based revenue'! Which means, of
course' `taxpayers' pay the bills!
