I'll grant you that they get most of the PR. But, the other side does
most of the work.

On the former, I would disagree. I would recomend a read of Andrew
Chaikin's " A Man On The Moon ", which was used as a primary reference
work for HBO's excellent 1998 miniseries " From The Earth To The
Moon ", which tells the tale both of the space program, to the end
of Apollo, and of the 60s that the program operated in.

Sure, but the acknowledgement of technology also came from that
time, including the genesis of the systems that we are now using
to share this communication.

Sure. It varies. Theres a joke that goes " Did you hear about
the folk music scare ? That shit almost caught on ! ".
But, the effort and honour of the 60s space program stands
as a great example of the best of western society and men's
working towards a goal.
One day, I should show you around the Air and Space Museum,
and/or Cape Canaveral, and tell you some of the tales of the
history, and men who made it. It was... great. In the best
way.
