  Pardon me for jumping in, but...
  Your local BBS probably deletes messages from the messages base after a 
certain number of days.  This creates more space for new messages.  To get 
the most out of FIDOnet usually involves a lot of "lurking" (watching the 
messages and following topic threads).
  Remember to save the good messages to your own computer disc.  This way you 
can return to them in the future, even after your local BBS has deleted them.
