ILLEGAL immigrants were still pouring into Britain yesterday - as it was
revealed blunders let five Iraqis walk free.

The men found in a lorry in London walked off after immigration officers
said they were TOO BUSY to deal with them.

And dozy cops failed to take their NAMES - so officials have no idea what
happened to them.

The Iraqis were told to make their own way to an immigration centre 20 miles
away. But the Home Office does not even know whether they turned up there.

The five Iraqis were arrested and handcuffed after being found hiding in a
trailer at a North West London depot.

The smiling stowaways were told to go to the centre in Croydon, South
London, where they would be handed £200 housing and food vouchers.

A Home Office source said: "Everyone is embarrassed but it is believed the
police did not take the names of the five."

The stowaways smuggled themselves in two weeks ago in a locked Ward-Thomas
Removals lorry returning from Denmark.

Owner Anthony Ward-Thomas said: "I was appalled. I only hope these guys are
just illegal immigrants and not terrorists."

Shadow Home Affairs minister Humfrey Malins said: "This is another example
of the Government's shambles on asylum." Met Police said: "They were freed
on the advice of the immigration service."
