I am writing a computer game solo, and I am surely busy enough
with this. However, my friend and I slowly persuaded eachother into
collectively making what we call a "Techno/Rave Generator." We propose
to program a computer to play techno music unassisted by a keyboard or
anything. The current proposition is to borrow sound code for
the ScreamTracker format which is a classification of the computer
MOD formats. Using saved samples, the computer will order them to sound
like music.
We are not so sure that something like this has beem done before
on such a low-end application. We were fooling around with a
synthesizer that used pre-programmed rythms with an adjustable bassline,
but we do not want to be forced to make most of the music for the
computer.
We both know some music method, but nothing near "techno
method." Such a thing must not exist, but somebody has to program the
keyboards to make those cool rythms, etc.
You may question where this is leading now..
Is there any available documentation that can help implement
such a program? Coding for audio is very green to both of us, so we
first are writing the code to play sound effects, though I have plenty
of code on my hard drive to plagerize for our use.. ;)
We do have many samples that can be used to generate the notes..
I have many types of drums, basses, synths, winds... etc. stored on my
hard drive, but now what?
