Hello Gerhard,
at>> If I voted for Trump, does that mean I'm racist? Hate black people?
GS> Hate
at>> Hispanics? Disrespect women? None of these apply to me, or Trump.
GS> Sure, the best president obviously is a black lesbian in a wheelchair,
GS> because voting for someone else would make you a racist, sexist,
homophobic
GS> and whatever it's called when you don't like disabled persons. ;->
We voted for FDR. Four times. And we would have kept electing him
many times more. But he saved us all the trouble by going on permanent
vacation at Warm Springs, Georgia.
There are only two known photographs of FDR sitting in a wheelchair.
And one of them is in a private collection, not available for public
viewing. The man went through great lengths to hide his disability,
even though everybody knew he was unable to walk, and could not even
stand up without assistance.
There is an FDR monument in Washington, DC. The statue of FDR has
him in a wheelchair, but the wheelchair is covered by a blanket. I
seriously doubt he would have approved of such a statue of himself,
had he had the chance to say anything about it.
When FDR died, most Americans were shocked. Everybody thought he
was in good health, even though he was mobility impaired. But what
do we really know about the health of any leader? Only what we have
been told. And what we have been told is almost always the same -
"Fit as a fiddle."
We were just as shocked when JFK died. People can even tell you
exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard the
news he had been shot and killed. But few knew at the time that he
was also suffering from Addison's Disease, among other things. I
doubt he would have survived a second term, and maybe not even his
first term, due to illness.
Ronald Reagan had some health problems, but he was elderly and
so it was understood. But what we did not know, and may never know,
is when did early onset of Alzheimer's begin? Was Reagan sick at
the time he was in office?
Donald Trump is in his 70s, just like Ronald Reagan was when he
was in office. While there is no evidence suggesting that Trump
is suffering from Alzheimer's, it is known he is being treated
for heart problems, and is taking statin drugs.
On the other hand, the vice president seems to be trim and fit, and
not in much need of any help from anybody to get things done. So maybe
we will survive what happens post-Trump.
