Just a temporary lapse, I'm sure But seriously, regardless of the potential effect an EU may have on the U.S., I really don't get why all these countries want to subjugate their long individual histories into a new thing that I don't really see working -- and for the very same reason, disparate histories, languages and individual pride in one's own country. i.e. here in the U.S. there is a lot of rivalry between states (mostly sports related I think) but the underlying thought is we are the U.S. The underlying thought in Europe will never be "we are the EU," it's not logical to think it ever would be; as already proven by the lackluster response (in words or actions) to the 3/11 attacks in Spain by any of the other "EU" nations. It was more of a "that's terrible that thing that happened in Spain," similar to the initial response by other countries to our 9/11. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
