subject: Freenet logon problem

PM> new internal V.34I 2805C for the local computer society BBS. And I
PM> have Telix 3.22 installed twice in order to do so; slow for SCFN with
 PM> the P2400E on COM2 IRQ3; fast for TBCS with the 2805C on COM3 IRQ5.
PM> I wonder if there's some sort of hardware conflict going on, and
PM> someone with the exact same setup would have to test it to see what's
PM> up. I have a Packard Bell Legend 300SX with Phoenix ROM BIOS 1/15/88
 PM> 80386 V 1.10 1113. I don't know what type of modems SCFN has; only
PM> that their max speed for now is 2400. The Zoom tech dialled them up
PM> (813-298-1653) with two different modems, and had no problem. So the
PM> conflict surely has to be caused by either the PB, or Telix.
First, your new modem and your printer port are sharing the SAME IRQ. Change
the new modem's IRQ back to 4 (standard com port parameters). Phoenix Bios
and a Packard Bell mother board aren't the most stable or desirable combo
that exists either. You didn't say wether or not you were running Telix from
Windows (3.1 if it's a 386sx) or Dos. Do yourself a favour and run Telix
directly from DOS. Second, make sure that Telix is configured for VT102
emulation!!! Every Freenet I've seen runs a shell program called the Lynx
browser, and Lynx id very picky about terminal emulation, ANSI just won't
work period. Set your init string to ATZcr. Unless your freenet is using old
USR/HST 16600 modems you should be able to connect just fine.
