People in the US forget that not only are we severely behind in broadband
access, but not everyone in the world has unlimited local/LD calling.
Me, well, the sound of a modem handshake still makes me smile, so that's
why I'm doing it. I mean, why not...it's a hobby, just like ham radio.
Why not enjoy all the aspects of a hobby that you can that you're
interested in? Unfortunately, that thought seems to be lost on some in this
day and age.
