http://www.angryharry.com/ Comments by AH Revolting Woman Maureen Dowd is the resentment columnist for the New York Times. She serves as newsprint megaphone for the angry, selfish, wretchedly unhappy career woman who can't understand why she is living alone in an apartment with two cats. [ http://www.strike-the-root.com/51/reed/reed3.html ] Fred Reed This obnoxious self-centred infantile woman seems to spend most of her life trying to stir up hatred towards men and souring people's relationships. But more important is the question of why the New York Times gives her the space in which to do it. And men's activists need to open their eyes to the wider issues rather than to remain fixated on the specifics of any given case. This is extremely important. For example, it is the New York Times rather than Maureen Dowd that is the real problem in this case. And, similarly, when, for example, a woman messes up a man's life by making a false allegation, it is the government, the politicians, and the corrupt judges that are the real problem, not the woman herself. And it is towards the former that the anger and the activism need to be directed. The same is also true in other areas. For example, even when it comes to crime, it is important not to let the government, the politicians and the legal system off the hook. It is very convenient for governments to try to pass the buck on crime and to put all the blame on the offenders themselves. But given that it is governments and their officials that are largely responsible for the environments in which children develop and in which adults live, it is governments and their officials that need to take most of the blame for crimes. This is not to say that they are necessarily to blame for individual crimes, but they are most definitely to blame for the levels of crime. For example, some 70% of serial killers and violent criminals come from single-mother households. As such, any government that promotes single motherhood also promotes violent crime. And so when people feel outraged at the levels of violent crime, it is their governments that should be on the receiving end of their ire; particularly if they want to be better protected from such things. As another example, legalising recreational drugs and supplying them through suitably-qualified channels would slash crime levels by a massive amount and it would also seriously undermine organised crime and terrorist groups. So, yes, Maureen Dowd is an obnoxious woman, but it is the New York Times that gives her the influence that she wields. --- UseNet To RIME Gateway {at} 3/5/05 12:57:42 PM ---* Origin: MoonDog BBS, Brooklyn,NY, 718 692-2498, 1:278/230 (1:278/230) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 278/230 10/345 106/1 2000 633/267 |
