subject: USR Connects

I've seen some here talking about USR/Supra. If you're wondering if your
Supra 336 will connect, here's something to look at:
> = 3:41:48 RING
> = 3:42:02 CONNECT 33600/ARQ/LAPM/V42BIS
> + 3:42:14 U.S. Robotics Customer Support BBS, 1:115/500

> ~ 3:42:14 Phone: 8479825092
> - 3:42:14 Password protected mail session
(I run a couple file distribution nets on the Filegate, and USR distributes
the Filegate)
Here's USRs -own- BBS, polling me, getting 33600 connects. (How many do you
want to see? There's been 4 already today.) Admittedly, I have great phone
lines here. (Connect speed can be affected by your phone line, cabling,
serial port, multitasking, disk caches... keep that in mind when going
3.6k)
Even more important is your CPS rate. -That's- what really counts. I'm
averaging between 3300-3700cps.
Check the features of the USR V.Everything. Check the features of the
SupraFAXModem (336) or the Supra Sonic. Check who's done the most continual
refinement of their firmware. Check the prices.
The choice should be clear to you. It is to me. Hope this helps someone
make a decision. (Please, no arguements here. If you want to discuss it,
send me netmail.)
