| subject: | Re: Tragic Dog loss |
From: "Glenn Meadows"
This afternoons update:
update.
she is home again now for the weekend.... a bit scary to say the least,
cause I'm on my own now and pray i can get her thru without the aid of the
clinic/vets! (i do have the emergency clinic as back up though, just in
case... although i'm not sure what more they can do for her at this
point)anyway, her clotting is improving, but her white blood cell count is
quite high, indicating an infection still... he gave me antibiotics for
that. Her red blood cell count is still very, very low though. So i bought
a ton of liver, cooked it up and will give her all her pills in that -
because it will disguise their nasty flavor and get a ton of iron in her!!!
Plus she should gobble that down as opposed to her normal dog food that she
is not even looking at right now. I guess she's just too sick to care about
eating... unless it is something really good - like hotdogs!!!! I've been
giving the kid hotdogs all night and will continue to do so tonight too so
she has some food in her belly! I will also get some gatoraid in her to
keep up with the vitamins and such.
She is a trooper, but she's by far not out of the woods... all i can do is
pray for her and give her all the care and support i can in addition to
providing her with the prescribed medication. Time is a big factor in all
this and if she can hang in there!
Monday she goes back to the vet to get more tests done to which we hope
will show an improvement in all areas!!!!!!We have a long weekend ahead of
us even though it's already Sat. afternoon. She's looking good and getting
around much better, but she is in a lot of pain still which is evident by
her breathing and sometimes moaning. Please keep up with the good thoughts
and prayers!
Thank you so much!!!!!
