subject: CONNECT TROUBLES

HM>Since upgrading to the V.34+ firmware I have had a lot of connect
HM>troubles. Several of my users (even one with a 2400 modem) report
HM>problems connecting. Simiarly, my outbound calls are much less
HM>reliable. When talking to a Dataplex V.34 (Australian brand,
HM>non-Rockwell based) the modem 75% of the time begins the V.34
HM>response sequence too late, and the remote modem has already moved on
HM>to the 2400 connect tone.
HM>Also, despite "AT+MS=RVFC,1,300,28800" the modem will still attempt
HM>V.34. This has been a bug for quite a while. Similarly on some
HM>occasions (not sure with the current firmware) the modem will do MNP
HM>5 despite %C2 being set.
HM>Sometimes ATM1 does not enable the speaker on this firmware.
HM>Betas 17 and 18 seem more problematic than 14, which is what I'm now
HM>using. Also I get a lot of retrains and lost carriers that never
HM>happened before.
HM>My Supra V.FC is still rock solid connecting to anything, including
HM>the abovementioned Dataplex.
HM>I will probably have to remove the V.34+ firmware.
That is a rather odd pattern. I ran the -18 code here
        quite well with S9=20 S10=60 S30=90 and S191=131.
