Back in the mid 70's I looked at cutting a B3 down to plywood cases for 
Michael Gaboda .. I didn't do the job, but I know he had it done and used it 
on the road a number of years.  If I remember correctly, The biggest part of 
the job was adding multi-conductor cabling between components and 
"connectorizing" everything with amp mil spec connectors ... it just looked 
like a nightmare to me at the time,  although I could handle it now if I was 
inclined to...
