That's ok theat the message was short, I understand. Yes, I do like
hacking. Topaz is the best to hack with. Teddy is pretty good but, he
likes to be ahead of horses and he walks really fast. He also lengthens
when asked to do a nice trot. He also gets really excited because I
always jump him out on the trails. I haven't been back to CARD because
I have no way of getting there. A friend of mine just got a trailer
but, it hasn't been picked up from the dealership yet. We were going to
go with Topaz and Alaska. She loves Alaska. I haven't ridden Teddy
since last Tuesday. My mom had a lesson Friday on him. I'm giving him
a rest. He doesn't show until Hawkridge so, he can afford a little time
off. Hopefully I am going to get another horse in the fall. There's
this filly up at the barn that I absolutely love. I have a picture of
her on my wall. Anyways, her name is Fleur and she's three I believe.
She is in the process of being completely broken. Ian said she hasn't
thrown him off yet (he's riding her) which is a very good sign. He says
when she is more broke, I can start riding her and stuff. Right now, I
just do ground work with her. She's a bit head shy so, I get to brush
her and play with her so she gets over it. She's getting a lot better.
After ALOT of Krunch, she is finally realizing that it is ok to be
touched on the head. It's just her ears that really bug her now. She's
fine outside but, Kelly (Plitz) said that when she is inside, she thiks
anything that goes near her ears is a bridle so she gets kind of scared.
She's improved drastically though. She is 7/8 thoroughbred and 1/8
quarter horse. She has beautiful movement and she has a muscular
quarter horse bum. She has legs like toothpicks. They are so skinny.
But, she is really well built and she has a sweet disposition. My mom
doesn't think so though. My mom hates mares and she doesn't want to buy
another one. Oh well. She is a really dark bay and her only marking is
a tiny star right in the middle of her forehead. Well, enough about
her. When do you have lessons? Mine are Tuesdays but, Ian is gone this
week. What kind of music do you listen to? I listen to classical (only
Beethoven) and punk and a little bit of Ska. My boyfriend is a punk.
He even has a mohawk to top it off! Him and I are going to start a punk
band. He was in one but, it split up because the bassist went to
University and the drummer started playing Jazz. They were small only
playin a couple shows but, a friend of his went to BC and heard someone
playing their stuff. Even a popular punk band (I can't remember the
name) copied part of their guitar riff and used it. I'm teaching him
how to ride horses and he's teaching me to sing and play guitar. He was
the singer in his last band but, he's going to play guitar in this one
and I'm going to sing. He's such a good rider. First time he rode, I
didn't have to say "Hells down! Legs back! Shorten your reins! Hands
down! Thumbs up!" He watched me ride and he knew all that stuff. The
second time he rode, he was trotting Teddy bareback and the third, I had
him cantering on a lunge line and doing two point at the walk and trot
and he even knew when he was posting on the wrong diagonal and cantering
on the wrong lead!!! He really pays attention up there. I even lent
him a horse book which he is in the midst of reading and he is learning
so much. Well, I should go because I'm getting tired again. It is
still pretty early.
Write soon,
Erica, Teddy etc. etc.
