Hi! Holger, On Mon, 10 Mar 14, you wrote to me: PQ>> http://www.motorstv.com/tv-guide HG> Thanks a million Paul. I hope that you can use it. PQ>>enthusiastic when it's that time for the Bathurst 1000 each year. HG> That's a real gem. When I was single (oh, a about three *life* sentences ago), the Bathurst weekends were 'lost'. That is to say that nothing else got done other than to vege-out in front of the TV. 8-9 hours each day. :) Not any more, which is probably a good thing. HG> I saw in a "look-back" that Rauno Aaltonen from Finland had done well HG> there with an Austin Mini Cooper S. Swedes have also participated HG> there. Fascinating. The other classes were usually a distraction from the big battles between Holden & Ford. Nothing else mattered. Oops. ;-) HG> Read also in Autosport magazine that GM will cease support of the HG> Holden racing activities and may as well close its car factory in HG> Australia. Also Ford had plans to deactivate its racing activity but HG> reconsidered that after Winterbottom won the 2013 Bathurst 1000. I don't know specifics, but by about 2020 both Holden & Ford will not be producing anything other than after-market spare parts. Them's the breaks. Both companies were producing overpriced vehicles (whilst being subsidised), still, when a goodly proportion of the driving public chose to buy imports or others (we had a 'fleet' of two Aussie-built Mitsubishis at one time). I'm driving a Toyota Corolla hatchback these days and Barb has a sweet little Nissan pocket-rocket (still with my music USB stuck in the stereo... dammit!). Cheers, Paul. ...
